Boycott 2.0

The culmination of events in the United States, recent, and long-term/on-going have rendered me at turns numb, and at turns livid... To the point where I don't feel capable of having a coherent thought, let alone carrying out any kind of meaningful action(s). It's the feeling of disconnect, disorientation I imagine one would experience due to prolonged sleep-deprivation, or chronic pain. I question the validity of my every move, every thought. I recognize the need for action, but don't trust my ability to make good decisions right now. My quagmire plays quite nicely into the hands of those who are responsible for our state of affairs to begin with. I feel frozen in place. I suspect I am not alone.

  ...Below the Cheetoe...

On the plus side, 1000's across the country are taking to the streets in peaceful protests... Our President and Attorney General are stepping up and speaking out forcefully... Coalitions are in fact being formed, and the citizenry at large is activated, poised to take action to demand meaningful change.

59 years ago this month, a Black seamstress named Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a bus. Her act of peaceful civil disobedience led to a bus boycott that eventually galvanized the  entire nation....ultimately culminating in action at the Federal level.

   ...The Dream Scenario...

Perhaps it is time for a new Boycott.

Every Black person in the country, (and those who would stand with us), from the President right down to fast-food and service industry workers, professional athletes, manual laborers, domestics, blue-collar workers, civil servants, educators doctors, lawyers, scientists, and performers to lay down their tools of trade.

If we are to be treated as second-class citizens, then let the country attempt to get on without us :)>
